Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Architect to join our team in Maryland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture, with a focus on designing and managing complex projects. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker who can lead architectural projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality design and execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of architectural projects, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop project plans and timelines.
• Oversee the preparation of architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architects and design staff.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
• Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Make key management and project decisions to ensure the successful execution of projects.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.
• Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project lifecycle.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Licensed Architect in the state of Maryland (preferred).
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in architectural design and project management.
• Experience with government, academic, multi-family, commercial, corporate, and scientific/lab project types is preferred.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work environment with the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays, while requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The focus is on airport and aviation development, including tenant relocation, terminal expansion, and baggage handling. Collaboration with large A&E firms is a key aspect of the role. Current projects include support at various airports, with a recent prime award from Seattle.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $53.00/hr.
