Job Title: Production ChemistJob Description

The Production Chemist plays a key role in safely compounding, blending, and mixing products in a regulated manufacturing environment. This position focuses on following detailed batch sheets and recipes, accurately weighing and adding ingredients, and operating filling and production equipment at a fast pace while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the supervisor regarding daily activities and production priorities.
  • Follow daily plans and prioritize material movement as directed by the Production Lead and supervisor.
  • Move, stock, and store materials in compliance with all applicable safety rules and procedures.
  • Handle hot and hazardous materials safely, strictly following all safety protocols.
  • Operate and keep pace with fast-moving filling equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Convert units of measurement as required by standard operating procedures (SOPs) or as directed by the Production Lead and supervisor.
  • Add, verify, and weigh ingredients accurately in accordance with quality assurance (QA) documentation and batch sheets.
  • Help organize and balance workload to manage seasonality and fluctuating demand using creative strategies approved by the Production Lead and supervisor.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) within the department at all times.
  • Complete all QA and production-related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform yield calculations as indicated by the supervisor or QA documentation.
  • Identify and recognize products running on the line to prevent mix-ups and ensure correct processing.
  • Prevent cross-contamination by monitoring and separating different lot numbers and materials.
  • Report any quality issues immediately to the Production Lead and supervisor.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment promptly to the Production Lead and supervisor.
  • Assist in developing and training employees as directed by the Production Lead and supervisor.
  • Help develop and support a high-performance culture that drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Support business systems such as ERP, WMS, and production reporting tools as needed.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Production Lead and supervisor.
Essential Skills
  • Experience compounding in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and operating production and filling equipment.
  • Ability to follow batch sheets, read and interpret recipes, and execute them accurately.
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and QA documentation requirements.
  • Capability to convert units of measurement as required by SOPs and production instructions.
  • Attention to detail in weighing, verifying, and adding ingredients.
  • Commitment to strict safety practices when handling hot or hazardous materials.
  • Ability to keep pace with fast-running filling and production equipment.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate daily activities with supervisors and production leads.
  • Ability to recognize products and lot numbers to prevent mix-ups and cross-contamination.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background as a compounder, chemical operator, or in blending and mixing operations.
  • Experience working with OTC or similar regulated products.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and production reporting tools.
  • Bilingual communication skills are beneficial for supporting training and team collaboration.
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Work Environment

This role operates within a regulated OTC manufacturing facility in the Franklin area. The position typically follows a PM schedule from Monday through Thursday, supporting production activities during evening hours. The environment involves working around filling and compounding equipment, handling various chemical ingredients, and adhering to strict safety and GMP standards. Team members collaborate closely with production leads and supervisors, use business systems such as ERP and WMS, and work in a setting focused on high performance, continuous improvement, and reliable delivery of quality products.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
