Job Title: Product Development Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Product Development Engineer who excels in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to the transformation of concepts into production-ready products. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to support the development of complex technologies and ensure their efficient and effective implementation into a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance related to functional deliverables for prototype, tool design, project management, and quality systems.
  • Understand, apply, and translate complex or ambiguous customer requirements into actionable product development plans.
  • Execute development manufacturing planning activities, including defining bill of materials, work instructions, time estimates, tooling design, and inspection requirements.
  • Support all aspects of technical reviews.
  • Ensure documentation meets quality system, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create technical reports, validations, and qualifications by capturing experimental results.
  • Collaborate with customers to support and recommend studies, improvements, and risk assessments for their products or technology.
  • Establish and cultivate a network of support across design, quality, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing to facilitate assignment completion.
  • Predict technical interactions based on manufacturing process knowledge and provide contingency plans to mitigate project and manufacturing risks.
  • Translate customer technical and quality requirements into reasonable product specifications using design for manufacturing practices.
  • Support development builds associated with assigned projects.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical science from an accredited university or college.
  • General understanding and working knowledge of common engineering concepts and applications, including statistical and scientific tools.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting is desirable.
  • Strong financial acumen influencing short- and long-term financial decisions for key projects.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with functional managers, project leaders, co-workers, and customers.
  • Proficiency in documenting processes, validations, qualifications, protocols, reports, and test methods.
  • Expert level working knowledge of engineering/scientific discipline concepts and applications.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Exposure to project management principles and practices.
  • Understanding and adherence to company’s quality system and documentation practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering experience.
  • BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering).
  • Experience in new product development.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eden Prairie, MN.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
