Job Title: Product Procurement Engineer (Buyer)
Job Description
The Procurement Buyer will lead and support procurement activities for the Dynamic Energy Transfer program, with a strong focus on electrical and hydraulic categories. This role combines purchasing, supply chain management, and technical engineering expertise to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely sourcing of components within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead purchasing activities for electrical and hydraulics components within the Dynamic Energy Transfer program, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to understand technical requirements and translate them into effective procurement strategies.
- Review, interpret, and apply engineering drawings and 3D CAD models to make informed sourcing and purchasing decisions.
- Manage supplier relationships to support manufacturing needs, including communication of technical specifications and resolution of issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
- Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles to procurement activities to support new product introduction and continuous improvement.
- Use data analysis to evaluate supplier performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support strategic sourcing decisions.
- Contribute to project management activities by planning, tracking, and reporting procurement milestones, risks, and deliverables.
- Support the development and implementation of purchasing processes and best practices within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
- Approximately 10 years of relevant experience, or 5–7 years of experience with a Master’s degree, in purchasing, supply chain, or a closely related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in process engineering, engineering, supply chain, or a similar discipline.
- Proven experience working in a purchasing function within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in purchasing, supply chain, and buyer responsibilities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Data analysis skills with strong technical proficiency to support sourcing and decision-making.
- Experience in project management, including planning, coordination, and tracking of procurement activities.
- Knowledge and practical application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Internship experience alone is not considered sufficient; full-time, relevant work experience is required.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address supplier, quality, and cost challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working with technical information and engineering documentation in support of procurement decisions.
Work Environment
The role operates within a manufacturing-focused environment that relies heavily on close collaboration between purchasing, engineering, and supply chain teams. You will work with technical documentation, including engineering drawings and 3D CAD models, and apply APQP principles to support product and process quality. The position involves using data analysis tools and standard business systems to manage procurement activities and supplier performance. Working hours are aligned with typical business operations in a manufacturing and engineering setting, with an emphasis on meeting project timelines and production requirement.
Duration
- 2 year contract role that can be extended
- 6 paid major holidays

This is a Contract position based out of Tucson, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
