Process Engineer

Job Description

The Process Engineer develops, optimizes, and sustains manufacturing processes from new product introduction through full-scale production. This role focuses on process design, PFMEA-based risk mitigation, and continuous improvement to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities Include

• Develop and improve manufacturing processes during new product development and transition processes into full production.
• Create and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, process layouts, and detailed process documentation.
• Support design engineers, production leaders, and manufacturing teams throughout development and production phases.
• Develop clear work instructions, inspection criteria, and best practices aligned with current and future manufacturing capabilities.
• Design and optimize material flow, floor layouts, work-in-process (WIP) requirements, and capacity planning.
• Perform process mapping, current-state analysis, and future-state process development.
• Plan and manage prototype builds and evaluate process capability against engineering requirements.
• Use data analysis, time studies, and surrogate data to predict and validate process performance.
• Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean activities, Kaizen-style events, and workflow optimization.
• Utilize simulation and virtual analysis tools to evaluate safety, quality, productivity, cost, and environmental impact of processes.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for nonconforming products.
• Initiate and support engineering change requests and concern reports to improve processes and products.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support manufacturing and engineering objectives.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred)
• 3 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience preferred
• Experience with conveyor systems and materials handling design or optimization.
• Knowledge of machining processes and their impact on manufacturability and quality.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software for process and layout design.
• Familiarity with simulation and virtual analysis tools to evaluate process performance.
• Experience in Lean tools such as 5S, value stream mapping, and Kaizen events.
• Strong documentation skills for work instructions, inspection criteria, and process standards.
• Ability to support and manage engineering change requests and concern reports.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Clinton, OH.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Port Clinton,OH.
