Job Title: Process Engineer
Job Description
The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and systems within a production environment. The primary focus will be to ensure that products are produced efficiently, effectively, and in line with quality standards. This role requires someone who is excited to be on the floor, willing to get their hands dirty, and eager to identify problems, efficiencies, and improvements.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop manufacturing processes for new products or improve existing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Analyze production processes, identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize these processes.
- Select appropriate equipment, machinery, tools, supplies, and technologies required for manufacturing processes to achieve desired outcomes.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure products meet established quality standards and specifications.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising product quality or safety.
- Create and maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, process flow diagrams, and quality control documentation.
- Identify and address production issues, equipment malfunctions, or other challenges that could disrupt the manufacturing process.
- Collect and analyze data from production processes to identify trends, performance metrics, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production workers, supply chain professionals, and management, to ensure a smooth and efficient manufacturing process.
- Drive initiatives such as implementing 5S methodology, managing preventive maintenance, and facilitating Kaizen Events.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and guidelines.
- Train production staff on new processes, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Manage projects related to process improvement, new product introduction, or facility upgrades.
- Collaborate on the transition of new products from prototype to full-scale production.
- Consider environmental factors and sustainability in manufacturing processes, such as waste reduction and energy efficiency.
Essential Skills
- 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer.
- Project management experience.
- Experience working with CNC lathes.
- Precision machining experience.
- Experience with Esprit software.
- Equipment selection and 3D CAD experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Continuous improvement experience (lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen).
- Aerospace experience.
- Experience selecting equipment for manufacturing.
- 3D CAD experience.
Work Environment
The Process Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and work on a team with two other engineers. Typical hours are 7am-3:30pm with some flexibility for earlier starts. Engineers currently average 45-hour work weeks. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on aerospace and hydraulics divisions among other industries. The company specializes in high-quality precision components, serving a diverse range of industries including Aerospace, Medical, Agricultural, Oil/Energy/Fluid Power, Automotive, Lawn/Garden, and Sports/Leisure. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr.
