Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Process/Chemical Engineer to join our team in the Rubber Mixing Department. The role involves managing process parameters and equipment implementation, with a focus on reducing variability and addressing production issues. You will collaborate with the staff and various departments to create and modify formulations, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage process parameters and equipment implementation in the Rubber Mixing Department.
- Focus on reducing variability and addressing production issues.
- Collaborate with chemists, and the VP Technology to create and modify formulations.
- Work with technical, sales, and customer service departments for technology implementation.
- Develop and maintain work instructions in adherence to ISO 9001.
- Provide technical service to production by instructing operators and creating documentation.
- Create graphs and analyze data of production parameters.
- Interact extensively with Enterprise software (QAD) and equipment software.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Evaluate customer product needs and provide technical service.
- Adjust formulations for consistency by modifying formulation or mixing cycle.
- Identify and recommend process changes for cost and scrap reductions.
- Evaluate raw materials for cost reductions.
- Recommend compounds for quoting and improve policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in rubber mixing, molding, injection, and transfer/compression.
- Thorough understanding of ISO 9001.
- Knowledge of various polymers.
- Experience in rubber formulating.
- Excellent communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with SPC and 8-D problem solving methods.
- Manufacturing engineering knowledge.
Work Environment
Work in a well-established, large industrial warehouse environment. The role involves a mix of old and new machines, including rubber internal mixers and injection molding machines. Work takes place in a dynamic environment with a focus on growth and innovation, involving 50% time on the floor or lab and 50% at the desk. You will work closely with lab supervisors, senior process engineers, safety specialists, EHS, and production supervisors.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
