You will bridge the gap between R&D concepts and high-volume production by designing, implementing, and optimizing measurement systems for LED emitters, spectroscopy, sensor technologies, and signal processing. Working closely with internal sensor and product experts, you will ensure that laboratory measurement methods evolve into robust, scalable, and reliable manufacturing test solutions.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement manufacturing test systems that support high-volume production of medical devices, with a focus on optical and electronic measurements.
- Translate R&D laboratory measurement methods into robust, production-ready test solutions that maintain accuracy, repeatability, and reliability at scale.
- Develop and maintain automated test applications using LabVIEW, TestStand, and MATLAB, integrating instruments such as spectrometers, oscilloscopes, and other measurement equipment.
- Create and execute test methodologies, including test plans, test procedures, and validation strategies, to ensure comprehensive verification of product performance and compliance.
- Perform measurement system analysis (MSA), including Gauge R&R and uncertainty analysis, to quantify and improve measurement accuracy and consistency.
- Define and optimize manufacturing test limits, guard bands, and decision criteria based on statistical analysis of measurement variation, repeatability, reproducibility, and yield performance.
- Develop user requirements specifications (URS) and system requirements specifications (SRS) for manufacturing test systems, and lead verification and validation activities against these requirements.
- Characterize LED emitters and optical measurement systems, including setup, calibration, and performance evaluation of spectroscopy and spectrometer-based solutions.
- Integrate optical sensor technologies and photonics-based measurement systems into automated test setups, ensuring proper signal acquisition, processing, and analysis.
- Identify and control factors that affect optical measurements, such as temperature, drive current, fixturing, alignment, and environmental conditions, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and product engineering, to align test strategies with product requirements and production constraints.
- Document test system designs, procedures, and results clearly and comprehensively, supporting audits, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for test-related issues in production, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve test system robustness.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to colleagues on test methodology, optical measurement techniques, and best practices for measurement system development.
- Bachelors degree in engineering or engineering technology, preferably in electrical engineering (EE, ECE, or EET).
- At least 7 years of professional experience in manufacturing test engineering and test application development.
- Proven experience in developing and supporting manufacturing test systems for electronic or electro-optical products.
- Strong proficiency with LabVIEW and TestStand for automated test development and instrument control.
- Experience using MATLAB for data analysis, signal processing, and test algorithm development.
- Hands-on experience with instrument integration, including spectrometers, oscilloscopes, and related test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop test methodologies, test plans, and test procedures for manufacturing environments.
- Expertise in measurement system analysis (MSA), including Gauge R&R and uncertainty analysis.
- Experience defining manufacturing test limits, guard bands, and validation strategies to ensure product quality and yield.
- Strong understanding of requirements definition and documentation, including URS and SRS development, and leading verification and validation activities.
- Solid background in electrical engineering principles and practical use of oscilloscopes and other electronic measurement tools.
- Knowledge of LED emitters, sensor technology, and signal processing as applied to manufacturing test systems.
- Experience with LED emitter characterization and optical measurement systems, including setup, calibration, and performance evaluation.
- Knowledge of spectroscopy and spectrometer integration into automated test environments.
- Familiarity with optical sensor technologies and photonics-based measurement systems.
- Understanding of environmental and operational factors affecting optical measurements, such as temperature, drive current, fixturing, alignment, and other environmental conditions.
- Experience performing statistical analysis of measurement variation, repeatability, reproducibility, and yield performance to optimize test processes.
- background in medical device or highly regulated manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal sensor experts, product experts, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex test and measurement issues.
- Clear and concise technical communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality documentation for test systems and procedures.
This position operates in a highly technical, engineering-driven manufacturing environment focused on medical devices and advanced measurement systems. You will work with automated test platforms that integrate LabVIEW, TestStand, and MATLAB, along with a range of instruments such as spectrometers, oscilloscopes, and other precision test equipment. The role involves close collaboration with R&D laboratories and production facilities, requiring frequent interaction with cross-functional teams to align test strategies with product and process requirements. Work typically follows standard business hours, with flexibility to support critical production or validation activities as needed. The environment emphasizes precision, documentation, and adherence to established procedures, with a strong culture of quality, continuous improvement, and innovation in measurement and test methodologies.
