Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Power Distribution Engineer to supervise electric utility distribution design efforts while providing support for project managers and other relevant personnel. The role involves coordinating proposals, schedules, and budget estimates, ensuring the efficient use of resources, and managing the Distribution Design group to achieve profitability and quality targets.
Responsibilities
- Supervise electric utility distribution design efforts and support project managers.
- Coordinate proposals, schedules, and budget estimates with project management.
- Manage and lead the Distribution Design group to meet profitability and quality targets.
- Hire employees, market services, and provide outstanding client service.
- Serve as a resource for business development with clients and partners.
- Maintain complete and accurate record-keeping for the Distribution Design group.
- Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control for all projects.
- Communicate and negotiate effectively with clients, agencies, and the public.
- Utilize PC skills with Microsoft Office and CAD-based programs.
- Participate in industry committees and association groups.
- Travel as necessary to support work requirements.
- Administer company policies, salary administration, training, safety, and employee development.
- Approve timesheets and expenses for direct reports.
- Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.
- Support projects with Joint Use experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Power distribution and leadership communication skills.
- Experience in leadership roles with the capability to start an office.
- Proficiency in design and distribution design.
- Professional engineering skills with knowledge in telecommunication.
- Minimum Associate Degree in Engineering (Power Delivery preferred) with 5 years of senior/lead design experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred, P.E. designation is a plus.
- Supervisory and leadership skills with strong written and oral communication.
- Ability to market Distribution Design services effectively.
- Understanding of electric distribution construction standards and practices.
- Proficiency in navigating utility maps and design plans.
- Knowledge of field measurement devices, survey equipment, and software applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Self-driven with the ability to multi-task.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Joint Use projects.
- Valid driver's license and at least 21 years of age for company vehicle use.
Work Environment
The company is in the process of securing a designated office space, expected to be available before the end of the year. The work environment adheres to a business casual dress code.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $127000.00/hr.
