Job Description
The Senior Pipeline Engineer will provide subject matter expertise in the development and management of engineering governance standards to standardize project execution. This role involves representing the Engineering Management Office at various business initiatives, facilitating training sessions, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring peers.
Responsibilities
- Establish governance for engineering execution of projects across all business units in the US and Canada.
- Develop and maintain engineering governance documents, including procedures, standards, guides, and templates.
- Optimize engineering execution workflows and processes to bring consistency to all governance documents.
- Participate in workshops and stakeholder reviews to improve and optimize process workflows related to project execution governance.
- Facilitate training and awareness sessions for new and updated engineering governance documents to all project stakeholders, both virtually and in person.
- Conduct stakeholder review meetings, drive discussions, and decide on accepting or rejecting stakeholder comments.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of project lifecycle from concept to completion for various types and sizes of oil and gas projects.
- Collaborate with technical SMEs and engineering contractors to define attributes and taxonomy of various asset types and support the development and sustainment of the Project Item Master library.
- Assist with sustainment activities related to a cloud-based project data management repository.
- Review proposed deviations and incorporate change requests to governance documents.
- Conduct peer reviews on key engineering deliverables on active projects to ensure compliance with governance standards.
- Participate in project health checks and stage gate reviews to ensure compliance with engineering governance and readiness for the next project stage.
- Communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Pipeline Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience in Liquids, Natural Gas, and Renewables projects.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle from concept to completion.
- Deep knowledge of engineering deliverables across disciplines.
- Familiarity with pipeline design and asset management.
- Experience with engineering interfaces including procurement, contracts, project management, quality, construction, and commissioning.
- Experience with renewables energy projects is an asset.
- Asset management experience is advantageous.
- Pipeline design experience is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based project data management systems.
- Familiarity with Project Item Master library and Enterprise Material & Equipment Catalogue.
- Experience with tools such as Bentley MicroStation, SmartPlant, Aveva, PDMS/E3D, CAESAR II, PIPEPHASE, Aspen HYSYS, SolidWorks, Inventor.
The position is based in-office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with remote work on Wednesday and Friday. Travel is very rare and may be required for attending department meetings or workshops. A Driver’s Abstract is required. This is a Contract position based out of Houston, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00/hr.
