Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position is vital in ensuring the efficient processing of specimens while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
- Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
- Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand and execute all physician orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts for 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens appropriately for transport.
- Store specimen samples at the required temperature and in the correct container.
- Adhere to specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as required.
Essential Skills
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Expertise in phlebotomy, blood draws, and venipuncture.
Work Environment
This position is located in Jamesburg, NJ. The schedule includes Monday from 1pm-7pm, Tuesday from 4pm-7pm, Wednesday from 1pm-7pm, Thursday from 4pm-7pm, Friday from 9am-12pm, and Saturday from 8:30am-3pm. This is a non-float position. The work environment requires adherence to safety regulations and protocols to ensure the integrity of specimens.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
