Job Title: Phlebotomist - Ocala, Fl

Job Description

The primary role of the Phlebotomist is to assist in various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens according to established protocols.
• Record maintenance data and ensure decontamination practices are followed.
• Update and manage patient information accurately.
• Collect and store specimens in compliance with established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture or other specimen collection processes to patients.
• Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand and adhere to all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes correctly.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts 100%.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
• Place samples in appropriate collection containers and tubes, labeling them accurately.
• Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.

• Phlebotomy expertise, including blood draw and venipuncture.
• Experience in specimen collection and laboratory procedures.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience.

The position is based in a Patient Service Center location, where you will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ocala, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50/hr.
