Phlebotomist II

The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist with various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position requires a keen understanding of specimen collection and handling procedures.

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination.
• Update patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand and execute physicians' orders effectively.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
• Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them.
• Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.

• Proficient in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques.
• Experience in patient care and specimen processing.
• Ability to perform venipuncture and handle medical specimens.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience.

The role operates in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Adherence to safety standards and protocols is required, and professional attire is necessary. The position involves working with medical equipment and technologies to ensure efficient and effective specimen collection and processing.

This is a Contract position based out of Greensboro, NC.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.50/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Greensboro,NC.
