Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who can efficiently manage specimen collection and processing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
• Decontaminate and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match scripts 100%.
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining required temperatures.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture.
• 1-2 years of blood draw experience.
• Experience with pediatric to geriatric patients, with a focus on pediatrics.
• Ability to handle hard stick patients.
• Customer service skills.
• Phlebotomy certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment

This position is based in a fast-paced laboratory environment, operating Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm. The role requires flexibility as there may be a need to cover an IOP location nearby. A high volume of pediatric patients will be encountered, drawing 50-60 patients daily. The position is contractual and located at the LC PSC facility.

This is a Contract position based out of Rock Hill, SC.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.75/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Rock Hill,SC.
