Job Description
The Pharmacist is responsible for achieving pharmacy management goals and objectives within the dispensing pharmacy. This role involves providing comprehensive and accurate drug screening, information processing, and dispensing services for various drug distribution systems to the centers. Management skills and accuracy are essential to ensure that the appropriate drug product reaches the customer efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day operations in the pharmacy related to workflow, production quotas, and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal pharmacy practice regulations, and DEA policies.
- Supervise pharmacy production staff to ensure proper order entry, workflow, and security of the pharmacy area.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels, orders, and drug packaging.
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of sterile IV drug products or solutions.
- Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances.
- Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during scheduled on-call rotation as required.
- Clear workflow dashboard daily.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA.
- Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing.
- Proficiency in clinical interpretation: drug-drug, drug-disease, drug-food interactions, and allergies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Effective multitasking.
This position operates in a long-term care facility and may use standard office and/or pharmacy equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, rolling carts, and fax machines. A significant portion of work will be performed in the long-term care facility where noise levels may be loud. Physical demands include sitting or standing for seven to ten hours per day, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, walking, crawling, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Staff Pharmacists work five days per week, with four 7.5-hour days from Monday to Friday and one 10-hour day on Saturday or Sunday, within the hours of 6:30 am to 8:30 pm (Monday to Friday) and 7:00 am to 5:30 pm (Saturday and Sunday). Staff Pharmacists rotate every other weekend.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tyler, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
