Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic Party Chief to lead and contribute to a two-person survey crew in the field. This role involves overseeing survey operations across various job sites, assisting the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team as necessary, and designating underground utilities. The position is focused on ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements while maintaining excellent public relations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and organize field work for a two-person survey crew.
• Direct crew members and ensure a safe working environment.
• Protect and maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features.
• Deliver data promptly to the office.
• Maintain accurate records of work and expenses.
• Assist SUE team with tasks as needed.
• Designate underground utilities as part of the field operations.

Essential Skills

• 4 years of progressive experience in survey field operations, with at least 1 year as a survey crew chief.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with survey equipment including total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
• Experience with Trimble, land development, transportation projects, and construction staking.
• Strong technical skills and process-oriented mindset.
• Analytical problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Ability to work independently and methodically.
• Experience with boundary, land development, and transportation projects.

Work Environment

The position involves extensive outdoor work year-round in various terrains and weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Up to 50% travel is required within Texas and surrounding states, with a per diem of $40 per day plus lodging. The role includes occasional overnight travel.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
