(Full and Part Time) Pharmacist

Job Description

This Pharmacist role focuses on safely dispensing prescribed medications, ensuring prescription accuracy, and maintaining high standards of quality and regulatory compliance. You will oversee pharmacy technicians, support pharmacy interns and other medical personnel, and help maintain a secure and efficient pharmacy operation that delivers exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to verify accuracy and appropriateness, and to determine the formulas and ingredients needed.
  • Direct and oversee pharmacy technicians engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with procedures.
  • Maintain and follow established procedures for quality assurance, including verification processes and documentation related to medication dispensing.
  • Ensure the security of controlled substances by following established protocols for storage, handling, inventory, and recordkeeping.
  • Manage the proper disposal of hazardous waste drugs in accordance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Enter and verify data such as patient names, prescribed medications, and associated costs in the pharmacy system with a high level of accuracy.
  • Assay medications when required to determine their identity, purity, and strength in line with professional standards.
  • Instruct and mentor pharmacy interns and other medical personnel on pharmacy practices, medication use, and related clinical and operational matters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across shifts to support consistent, high-quality pharmacy services.
  • Contribute to a safe, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment by following all internal policies and applicable regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
  • Active Kentucky Pharmacist License required.
  • Ability to accurately dispense prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care.
  • Strong knowledge of prescription review processes, including verifying accuracy and determining appropriate formulas and ingredients.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and support pharmacy technicians in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Thorough understanding of quality assurance procedures within a pharmacy setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of pharmacist experience preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of sterile and/or non-sterile compounding experience preferred.
  • Licensure in additional states preferred but not required.
  • Experience overseeing pharmacy technicians in a clinical or retail environment is a plus.
  • Comfort working with pharmacy information systems and related technology.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with pharmacy best practices and regulations.

Work Environment

This role offers a structured 40-hour work week with first and third shifts available, Monday through Thursday. Part-time positions are also available, providing flexibility in scheduling. You will work in a professional pharmacy environment that emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and collaboration among pharmacists, technicians, interns, and other medical personnel. The setting includes regular use of pharmacy information systems for data entry and prescription processing, as well as adherence to established procedures for handling controlled substances and hazardous waste drugs. This is a Contract position based out of Nicholasville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $61.00 - $66.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
