Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to design and implement networking protocols. This role involves creating detailed designs, optimizing existing applications, and implementing new features. The ideal candidate will ensure software robustness and resilience, especially in critical devices, while mitigating potential safety and security vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement networking protocols including IPv4, IPv6, ARP, ICMP, IGMP, DHCP, TCP, UDP, and NTP.
• Create detailed design and technical documentation.
• Optimize existing applications and implement new features.
• Validate and verify software designs in diverse system integration environments.
• Implement protocols and algorithms for resource-constrained environments.
• Collaborate with the hardware team to enable communication between modules and applications.
• Ensure software robustness, resilience, and fail-safe operation for critical devices.
• Define and execute engineering test, validation, and verification activities.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in networking protocol development.
• Experience in detailed design and/or implementing protocols in software/firmware.
• Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Ethernet and VLAN tagging.
• Experience implementing or integrating IPsec and IKE (version 1 and/or 2) with a minimum of 5 years.
• Embedded networking software experience.
• Proficiency in C, C , or equivalent languages.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in mission-critical industries such as aerospace, automotive, defense, first responder, or medical devices.
• Ability to turn CONOPS, specifications, or requirements into software design, code, test plans, and execution.
• Experience with Python or equivalent scripting languages.
• Familiarity with Neighbor Discovery (ND) in IPv6 is highly desirable.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lansing, MI.

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $85.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lansing,MI.
