Medical Assistant - Surgery
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our surgical team. This role involves assisting with patient check-in and check-out, managing phone coverage, and supporting physicians during procedures. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice, providing excellent care and support to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Handle phone coverage, including scheduling appointments, addressing clinical questions, and routing calls to the appropriate person.
- Room patients, including taking medical history, medication lists, and vitals, and chaperoning during procedures.
- Scan documents and manage electronic filing.
- Verify insurance and collect insurance referrals.
- Prepare and maintain the schedule.
- Reprocess instruments as needed.
- Place orders and schedule testing.
- Assist with possible surgery-related tasks.
Essential Skills
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a proctored test.
- BLS certification through the American Red Cross or Heart Association.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Epic software.
Work Environment
Our office operates like a small surgical private practice, ensuring a focused and collaborative environment. While we use a hub for pre-certifications and billing, all other tasks are managed in-house, providing a comprehensive and hands-on work experience.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, Missouri.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
