Role Overview
Title: Mechanical Engineer
Type: 12 to 36 Months worth of Work (W2), Holiday, Benefits and PTO
Workplace: 95% Remote, 1-2 Days a month onsite in Clifton, NJ
Salary Range: $150k–$230k (depending on experience)
What You'll Be Working On
- Lead small–mid size cross‑functional design teams for IR payloads and mechanical subsystems.
- Own requirements allocation, specification development, interface definition, and system compliance
- Design precision mechanisms such as IR payloads, optics, optical gimbals, cryogenic mechanisms, flexures, mirror mounts, twist capsules, bearings, and deployment mechanisms.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Procurement during build and test phases.
- Prepare and present PDRs, CDRs, and internal/external technical reviews.
- Perform trade studies and support cost, schedule, and subsystem‑level technical planning.
Required Background
- Strong knowledge of space mechanisms and/or Infrared payload systems.
- SolidWorks OR Creo proficiency.
- Mechanical design GD&T experience, including precision mechanisms.
- 3 years of 3D CAD modeling.
Additional Desired Experience
- Bachelor’s 6 years, Master’s 4 years, or 10 years hands‑on experience without a degree.
This is a Contract position based out of Clifton, New Jersey.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $110.00/hr.
