Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, and educational projects, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, controls, and hydronic systems.
- Utilize Revit to develop, modify, and coordinate mechanical design models and construction documents.
- Collaborate with other disciplines, including structural, electrical, and architectural teams, to ensure fully coordinated designs.
- Interact directly with clients to understand project requirements, discuss design options, and provide technical input.
- Support project designers and engineers in delivering accurate, code-compliant, and constructible mechanical designs.
- Participate in design reviews, quality checks, and coordination meetings to resolve design issues and improve project outcomes.
- Assist in preparing project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and design calculations.
- Contribute to project schedules by meeting deadlines and proactively communicating progress and challenges.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn, take on new responsibilities, and grow toward a future leadership role within the mechanical design team.
- Approximately 1–2 years of experience in mechanical design for commercial, industrial, and/or educational projects.
- 2 years of experience as a Project Designer in mechanical engineering with a focus on HVAC and/or plumbing design, controls, and hydronics.
- Proficiency in Revit for mechanical design and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with clients and internal stakeholders, including other engineering disciplines.
- Strong communication skills to clearly convey technical information in both written and verbal form.
- E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) license.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles as they apply to building systems.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience working on a variety of project types, including commercial, industrial, and educational facilities.
- Interest in developing leadership capabilities and taking on increased responsibility over time.
- Desire to work in a family-oriented culture that emphasizes collaboration, internal events, and professional development.
- Motivation to participate in development courses and take advantage of stock plan opportunities offered by the employer.
- Flexibility and adaptability to support both in-office and remote work as needed.
The role is based in a multi-state engineering firm that specializes in commercial, industrial, and educational projects and offers a family-oriented culture. The work environment is deadline-driven yet relaxed, emphasizing teamwork, mutual support, and strong professional relationships. You will regularly use Revit and other mechanical design tools while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The position begins with at least three days per week in the office and at least two days remote, with the potential for increased remote work over time as you become more established with the team.
