Mechanical Design Engineer

Description

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our team and support a specialty fabrication shop and industrial contractor that caters to several industries such as food and beverage, agricultural development, industrial, and industrial automation. Our shop specializes in structural, mechanical, industrial, industrial duct and HVAC, End of Arm Tool development, machine building, robotic integration, and custom turnkey solutions for most any task. This role will report directly to the Engineering Manager but interface with Construction Project Management, Shop Supervisor and Shop staff, as well as procurement. The ideal candidate will exemplify an ability to communicate well, both orally and written, to clients and co-workers, work effectively in a team environment, and be a problem solver. Duties include but are not limited to the following: • Engineer and design packaging equipment, conveying equipment, structural platforms, robotic work cells and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT). • Employ engineering disciplines that promote design for manufacturability and assembly. • Analyze and estimate costs of alternate engineering designs. • Know and understand project costs within budgets. • Pursue engineering excellence using continuous improvement processes. • Maintain dependable and accurate bills of materials (BOM’s). • Maintain, organize and manage engineering product library and software. • Maintain effective cooperation between engineering and shop floor assembly. • Develop and maintain engineering project schedules. • Provide engineering support for co-workers who are working at customer facilities. • Follow detailed instructions, meet production goals and complete work according to standard procedures on assignments from engineering department. • Assist with the organization and maintenance of project files. • Handle daily operations and manage document files in hard copy/electronic form. • Create designs and drawings for other departments upon request. • Visit with customers to attend meetings and to document their requirements. • Write technical reports.

Required skills include: • Must know SolidWorks • Must know AutoCAD • Microsoft Office Suite • Strong mechanical design skills • Design for washdown or sanitary conditions • Datum controls, flatness callouts, concentric relationships (GD&T) • Layout large assemblies with good layer management • Plasma/laser cutting • Machining – mills, lathes, drilling/tapping, sawing, grinding • Sheet metal forming, shearing, punching, pressing • Know standard material thickness and gauges & when to use them • Detailing knowledge with ANSI drafting standards • Weld symbols • Perform calculations (algebra, trigonometry) specifically related to the engineering disciplines • Read and understand engineering drawings (ie: technical, construction) • Know standard material Types and when to use them • Fasteners – thread forms, thread series, pitch, types of fasteners Nice to have skills include: • Autodesk Revit • Autodesk Navisworks- BIM for material takeoffs, specifications • Microsoft Project • Basic understanding of 3D scanners • Working Knowledge of California Building Codes: Arch, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing • Read and understand P & ID drawings • Piping spool drawings • Read and understand electrical schematics • Fundamentals of HVAC system types and equipment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ceres, CA.

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $48.08/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Ceres,CA.
