Mechanical Design Engineer

Description

Manufacturer of material handling and processing systems for the tire and rubber and various other industries. The purpose of this position is to ensure that all aspects engineering projects are completed according to customer specifications and timelines. The duties include directing and coordinating projects of high complexity, ensuring design meets customer expectations, maintaining project schedules, creating and maintaining project phase reviews, resolving problems, creating and maintaining electronic documentation, utilizing AutoCAD or equivalent software for design requirements, preparing various types of drawings, gathering information from resources, managing projects to achieve objectives, providing installation support as needed, and adhering to company policies and procedures. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to interpret and visualize projects, apply engineering science and technology, implement mechanical knowledge, have advanced knowledge of design techniques and tools, work in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities, demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, work under pressure, effectively manage time, be self-managed, and possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Duties:

- Directs and Coordinates projects of high complexity under minimal direction or supervision. May work as Lead

Engineer or in collaboration with a more Engineer on a larger, complex project.

- Communicates effectively with all personnel levels, internally as well as externally, as needed to meet project

demands.

Responsible for:

- Ensuring design meets Customer expectation

- Ensuring project is within budget

- Creating or maintaining project schedules utilizing Smartsheet

- Creating and maintaining Project Phase Reviews

- Obtaining Customer Approval of design

- Resolving problems as they occur

- Understanding when a Change order is required and completing Change Order designs

- Develop and maintain electronic documentation related to releasing of manufacturing packages. This includes

Detail Drawings, Bill of Material, component requisitions, Saw/Laser Schedule, Equipment List, as well as any

additional details that may be required by the individual project specification.

- Utilize AutoCAD or equivalent software to complete design requirements

Responsible for preparing the following types of drawings:

- System Layout or Equipment Approval Drawings to be sent to customer

- General Arrangement or Sales Drawings for estimating purposes

- Installation Drawings

- Detail drawings of individual components and sub-assemblies

- Revisions to existing drawings as needed for design changes.

- Gather information from resources as needed to prepare detail drawings.

- Manage projects to achieve project objectives (manufacturing, quality, and engineering)

- Travel to customer site as needed to gather information pertaining to the project

- Provide installation support as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MUSTS:

- Associate or Bachelors Mechanical (open to no college education must have technical exp)

- 3D modeling experience (Solidworks, Pro-E/ Inventor, etc) 2D AutoCAD

- 5 years of experience in equipment/automation/material handling design

- Technical hands-on type of attitude

- Mechanical engineering experience with AutoCAD in a manufacturing/fabrication environment

This is a Permanent position based out of FREDERICKTOWN, OH.

The pay range for this position is $40.81 - $48.04/hr.
