Job Description

The Master Technician will diagnose and repair vehicles and related equipment while collaborating closely with dealers, research and development, testing, and quality teams. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with frequent communication, as you will support dealers by phone and in person and help ensure that equipment performs reliably throughout its lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain cars and, when applicable, farm equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Communicate with dealers approximately 50% of the time by phone and occasionally in person to provide technical support, troubleshooting guidance, and repair recommendations.
  • Collaborate with research and development teams to understand new equipment designs, features, and technical specifications.
  • Work with testing and quality departments to learn the full lifecycle of the equipment and provide feedback on performance, reliability, and potential improvements.
  • Document repair activities, findings, and recommendations clearly and accurately using standard office software.
  • Apply strong mechanical aptitude to identify root causes of issues and implement effective, lasting repairs.
  • Maintain professional, clear, and courteous communication with internal teams and external dealer partners.
  • Continuously build product knowledge and stay current on equipment updates, best practices, and diagnostic techniques.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience repairing cars and/or farm equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for frequent interaction with dealers by phone and in person.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with research and development, testing, and quality teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar office productivity tools for documentation and communication.
  • High level of ambition, initiative, and willingness to learn complex equipment and systems.
  • Strong soft skills, including professionalism, reliability, and customer-focused service.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or similar post-secondary education in an automotive, mechanical, or related field is a strong plus.
  • Relevant technical certifications in automotive repair, equipment maintenance, or related disciplines are highly desirable.
  • Experience working with product lifecycle processes or supporting equipment across its full lifecycle is beneficial.
  • Background in both automotive and agricultural or farm equipment repair is an advantage.

Work Environment

This role involves a mix of hands-on mechanical work and communication-focused support. You will spend part of your time in a workshop or service environment performing diagnostics and repairs on vehicles and equipment, and part of your time in an office or desk setting communicating with dealers by phone and using Microsoft Office for documentation.
