What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing-Mechanical Engineer position at Actalent?
Our Facility Manager is looing for someone to assist with upgrading new equipment coming in. This person would get to own the process and make improvement to the plant within automation and automated equipment. these improvements made in the plant will help to optimize their processes as well as improve safety around the facility. Will work closely with the Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager, and their Plant Safety Consultant.
Job Description:
This Mechanical Engineer will assist in the upgrade of various machines across the plant and in different departments.
- Manage projects or machining upgrades by assisting in souring machines, integrating into line, and any adjustments or improvements that need to be made
- Write processes and SOWs
- Analyze results and create reports using Microsoft excel and other office tools
- Hands on work with operators to identify issues and create solutions for any problems that arise
- Identify new areas of the plant for improvements and execute plans
- Ensure that customer specifications are being met and help with any adjustments needed to correct manufacturing process
The environment in the plant is dirty, dusty and hot. It is not for everyone but this opportunity gives you the chance to be hands on. Must not be afraid to work with the machines! NOT climate controlled plant.
There will be office space in the birds eye offices over the plant but will be working a lot with the operators and equipment on the floor.
NEED TO WEAR STEEL TOED SHOES, HARD HAT AND SAFETY GLASSES WHEN IN THE PLANT
HOURS: 6 AM - 3:30/4PM (some overtime = 5-10 hours)

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
MUST HAVE:
- Mechanical Engineering aptitude
- Ability to analyze machines for improvements and upgrades to equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft office skills (Specifically excel) to collect and analyze data (charts, pivot tables)
- Ability to read specification and adjust machines accordingly
- Familiarity with AutoCAD to categorize and organize drawings
NICE TO HAVE:
- Previous experience with CNC machines (operating, installation, etc)
- Ability to or previous experience running projects in new machine integration
- Experience working with steel and steel fabrication
Experience Level:
Entry-Intermediate Level --> MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING ON MECHANICAL SIDE BUT CAN BE ENTRY TO MANUFACTURING ROLE.
