Job Description

This Manufacturing Engineer role supports highly regulated aerospace and electronics manufacturing operations by driving continuous improvement, quality, productivity, cost reduction, standardization, and safety initiatives. Under direct supervision, you will help develop and maintain assembly instructions and manufacturing documentation, using Pro-Engineer (or similar CAD tools) and MS Visio to support production processes. You will work closely with production operators, technicians, and engineers to establish product standards, assembly methods, testing, inspection, and packaging processes in a high-reliability environment. Approximately 90% of your time will be spent on the production floor supporting day-to-day manufacturing activities and assisting with the introduction and rollout of advanced and hybrid products.

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing projects that focus on continuous improvement, quality enhancement, productivity gains, cost reduction, standardization, and safety initiatives.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining detailed assembly instructions and manufacturing documentation for production processes.
  • Use Pro-Engineer (or similar CAD software) and MS Visio to create, revise, and manage process documentation, layouts, and visual work instructions.
  • Help implement procedures and work instructions that guide manufacturing operations and ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with production operators, technicians, and engineers to support product standards, assembly methods, and process optimization.
  • Interpret and apply technical documentation, including schematics, engineering drawings, and specifications, to support manufacturing activities.
  • Assist in evaluating, selecting, and improving tooling, fixturing, and gauging solutions to enhance manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Support the introduction, validation, and rollout of new products within a structured, highly regulated aerospace and electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Participate in troubleshooting manufacturing issues, identifying root causes, and recommending process improvements.
  • Contribute to process engineering and process improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma practices where applicable.
  • Help ensure adherence to applicable quality standards and processes, particularly for high-reliability and aerospace-related products.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence while working extensively on the production floor.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support validation, production ramp-up, and ongoing manufacturing support for existing and new products.
  • Document findings, changes, and improvements clearly and accurately to support traceability and ongoing process control.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–1 year of engineering, manufacturing, internship, co-op, or relevant hands-on experience.
  • Exposure to aerospace or defense industry standards and environments through internship, coursework, or projects (required).
  • Exposure to electronics manufacturing processes such as PCB assembly, cable and harness assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, or similar (required).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement principles.
  • Familiarity with CAD software, preferably Pro-Engineer or a comparable platform.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to support troubleshooting of manufacturing issues.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills to work with cross-functional production and engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and quality-driven manufacturing practices in high-reliability environments.
  • Experience or exposure to process improvement, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a production setting with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, lab, or project experience in aerospace, electronics, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Exposure to IPC standards, AS9100, or similar quality management systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in production, assembly, or quality-driven environments.
  • Understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts, process engineering, and validation activities.
  • Familiarity with project management principles in a manufacturing context.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in documentation and process control.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced production environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Eagerness to learn, develop, and expand technical manufacturing engineering skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous improvement, operational excellence, and high-reliability manufacturing.
Work Environment

You will work primarily on the production floor as part of a small manufacturing engineering team in close collaboration with a production supervisor and other operations staff. Approximately 90% of your time will be spent in this hands-on environment, directly supporting manufacturing activities and new product introductions. The facility is very clean and organized, reflecting the requirements of aerospace, defense, and electronics manufacturing. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to structured processes and standards.
