Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. The role involves conducting tests throughout all production stages to manage variables and troubleshoot complex manufacturing engineering issues. The engineer will design manufacturing equipment layouts for optimal efficiency, coordinate with design engineering for new product releases, and provide technical guidance on specifications to best utilize equipment and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Design and arrange manufacturing equipment to ensure efficient and productive layouts.
- Specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment, adapting machinery as needed.
- Interface with design engineering to coordinate the release of new products.
- Provide guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications.
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements.
- Ensure production processes and procedures comply with regulations.
- Maintain records and reporting systems for the coordination of manufacturing operations.
- Develop documentation of findings and solutions, and communicate results effectively.
- Make technical presentations to staff as required.
- Observe all laws, regulations, and applicable obligations during business operations.
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Work safely in accordance with established procedures and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Weld Engineering preferred.
- 3-7 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer.
- 3 years of experience in welding and fabrication, including supporting procedures and process improvements.
- 3 years of design experience, including tooling and fixtures design, and work instructions.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks; AutoCAD is acceptable but SolidWorks is preferred.
- Understanding of laser tracking equipment.
- Understanding of PQRs, WPSs, and WPQRs and testing requirements.
- Basic understanding of an NCR system.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and codes.
- Ability to develop and communicate new concepts effectively.
- Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Adobe.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with welding various alloys, including ferrous and non-ferrous, bi-metallic joints, and high strength materials.
- Experience with lifting and handling.
- Ability to drive the flow of components between Manufacturing and Quality Departments.
- Ability to acquire and maintain security clearance.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tupelo, MS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.40 - $61.05/hr.
