Job Description
This is a highly specialized role focused on composites and manufacturing engineering. The successful candidate will support the new product development team by promoting cost-effective design for manufacturing and assembly. Additionally, they will aid in transitioning new products from development into production.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate preparation of process router sheets and standard labor hours.
- Develop detailed work instructions and Bill of Materials.
- Create work cells and set up production lines.
- Ensure adequate line capacity and development of operator training.
- Create standard work and detailed work instructions.
Essential Skills
- Manufacturing engineering expertise.
- Experience with tooling and composites manufacturing, including layup, autoclaves, and oven curing.
- Proficiency in Design for Manufacturing and new product development.
- SolidWorks proficiency for tooling design.
- Experience in process improvement, prototyping, and Six Sigma.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience in job shop and lower volume production environments (preferred 7-10 years).
- Hands-on knowledge of methods, processes, tools, and equipment in a manufacturing facility for composites.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience in building prototypes and assembly processes.
- Experience supporting Design for Manufacturing for New Product Development.
Work Environment
The environment specializes in the design and manufacturing of advanced composite and metal structures for the defense and space industries. It is recognized for prototyping through to high-volume production of mission-critical defense platforms and satellite components. The facility serves as a comprehensive hub for design, machining, fabrication, assembly, and validation testing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $57.00/hr.
