Job Description: Manufacturing / Automation Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing / Automation Engineer to enhance our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in automation and will work to identify and improve problematic areas within our manufacturing equipment and processes. This role requires a proactive approach, directly impacting machine downtime and overall facility efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Identify and address problematic areas in manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Design and implement improvements to enhance machine efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Collaborate closely with machine technicians and production staff.
- Design machine assemblies using Solidworks.
- Troubleshoot mechanical motion and automation equipment hands-on.
- Understand electrical schematics and machine wiring.
Essential Skills
- 10 years of experience in machine troubleshooting, building, and maintenance.
- Experience with small automation equipment and injection molding processes.
- Proficiency in 3-D CAD, preferably Solidworks.
- Strong mechanical skills and ability to use shop tools and equipment.
- Competence in using measuring equipment like micrometers and calipers.
- Basic machining skills using lathes and mills.
- Ability to write technical documents and standardized work experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and controls programming.
- Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to write code for PLCs is a plus.
- Effective communication with production staff and external vendors.
- Knowledge of plant infrastructure systems.
- Background in quality control procedures and processes.
- Six Sigma training, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and total productive maintenance experience are strong advantages.

This is a Permanent position based out of Lake Bluff, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
