Job Title: Field Service Technician

Job Description

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of Electronic Security Systems. The technician works both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls, troubleshoot system issues, and provide customer support. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Install and program CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.
• Identify risks to customers and provide effective solutions.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems.
• Monitor inventory of service parts.
• Install all Low Voltage Systems and hardware.
• Provide the main office with scheduling and materials on a weekly basis and upon request from direct Supervisor.
• Supervise and guide low voltage installation crews.
• Conduct quality control checks and inspections before project turnover.
• Train and mentor junior technicians and apprentices.
• Coordinate daily tasks and ensure alignment with project schedules.
• Enforce job site safety protocols, including the use of PPE, ladders, lifts, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with low-voltage electronic installation.
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to handle physical workload and lift 50 pounds.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools.
• Ability to differentiate colors for proper wiring and terminations.
• Capability to drive and travel various distances to multiple sites using personal vehicle.
• Ability to stand for most of the working day and perform tasks at heights using ladders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in security installation, maintenance, wire running, carpenter, IT, Access, CCTV, or related fields.
• OSHA 30 and SST certifications would be beneficial and required prior to the 90-day review.
• Positive attitude and team player mentality.
• Desire and ability to learn about new products.

Work Environment

Work is conducted 100% onsite at customer locations. Technicians work both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls. Travel is required in a personal vehicle to customer sites and the office to retrieve equipment and materials, mainly throughout the Tri-State area, with potential travel to various locations as needed. Candidates are eligible for tolls, gas, and work-related expenses for work outside New Jersey.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $36.00/hr.
