Job Description

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator with a strong understanding in deploying and managing scalable, secure cloud infrastructure. This role focuses on Microsoft Azure and AWS, requiring expertise in system administration, automation, and hybrid cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Deploy highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Implement infrastructure migration methodologies and techniques to migrate workloads into Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• Develop automation to support continuous delivery and continuous integration processes.
• Prioritize, manage, and maintain ServiceNow ticket queues while maintaining SLAs.
• Ensure all documentation is up-to-date, including run books and reporting.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support as assigned, with shifts of two weeks.
• Perform other duties as instructed by team leads and managers.
• Maintain vendor relationships and utilize their support when applicable.
• Utilize and improve highly available, scalable, and secure hybrid cloud infrastructure (VMware, Azure, and AWS).
• Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service.
• Install and set up Linux systems and servers in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Migrate server systems between hybrid cloud platforms.
• Engineer systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
• Collaborate with other teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
• Perform routine system maintenance and resolve issues as they arise.
• Review error logs, dashboards, and reported errors to seek out solutions.
• Follow change control policies and procedures to ensure proper review, notification, and record of maintenance events.
• Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks while maintaining credential security.
• Monitor system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes.
• Provide technical support and guidance to users and other administrators.
• Identify faults and vulnerable areas within the system’s architecture.
• Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related discipline and ten or more years of progressive professional experience in systems administration.
• In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 .
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code methodologies and other automation strategies/tools.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud management and concepts, including storage and networking.
• Strong scripting abilities in languages such as Python, PowerShell, Perl, and/or Bourne/Bash.
• Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP.
• Experience with primary operating systems including Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 .

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Additional certifications in Security, Linux, Cloud (Azure, AWS), and VMware are preferred.
• Management/Maintenance/Deployment tools experience: Puppet, Satellite, Ansible, Terraform, HP OneView, Active Directory, Centrify, Netbackup.
• Development tools and languages: Python, PowerShell, Perl, Bourne/Bash, Github, Gitlab, Visual Studio Code.
• Monitoring/security tools: Orion, QRadar, Splunk, Nessus, Tenable, SELinux, FireEye, Threathunter.
• System Platforms: Azure, VMware, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Rackmount servers, HPC clusters.
• Experience with Agile Methodology.
• 2-3 years familiarity with hybrid cloud platforms and their utilities: VMware, Azure, AWS.

Work Environment

The role involves working between Torrey Pines and Poway Data Centers and includes an on-call schedule of two weeks per quarter. The environment is dynamic, requiring adaptability and collaboration across teams.

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $175000.00/yr.
