What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician position at Actalent?
Description
Overview:
Client is seeking a Lab Technician with a strong interest in process improvement and willingness to work in an industrial/plating environment. This person will support lab waste treatment, perform basic wet chemistry/titration work, and spend time on the production floor analyzing how chemistry changes impact product quality and process performance.
This is not a traditional “white lab coat” role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable both in the lab and on the floor, helping optimize plating/finishing processes and communicating findings internally and with outside chemical reps.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and support the waste treatment facility
- Perform basic wet chemistry, titrations, pH testing/manipulation, metal precipitation, polymers, dosing/pumping
- Analyze chemistry results and determine required bath/process adjustments
- Communicate recommendations to production staff
- Walk the production floor and observe product/process performance
- Help identify opportunities for process improvements
- Partner with internal teams and chemical supplier reps on analysis and optimization
- Support quality and continuous improvement efforts
Client prefers someone who:
- Wants to grow long term within the business
- Can start in the lab/waste treatment side and expand into broader process improvement responsibilities
- Is motivated, hands-on, and interested in learning the production side
- Can eventually grow into higher-level responsibilities as skill set develops
