Lab Technician

Job Description

As a Lab Technician, you will navigate the plant environment to properly obtain liquid samples from silos using FDA and plant standards. You will test samples using lab equipment and instruments, ensuring samples remain within specification. You will document everything carefully, maintain cleanliness in the lab, and follow FDA and plant standards at all times.

Responsibilities

• Navigate the plant environment to obtain liquid samples from silos using FDA and plant standards.
• Test samples using lab equipment for PH, acidity, freezing point, viscosity, and solid/fat percentages.
• Document all activities with dates and signatures while keeping the lab clean to prevent contamination.
• Refill lab supplies such as chemicals and pipets.
• Calibrate equipment daily and perform other daily tasks.
• Receive phone calls from the dairy and various parts of the plant.
• Multitask continuously to ensure products and samples meet specifications.

Work Environment

The position is onsite at the Elma facility. Available shifts are 2nd shift (2pm - 10:30pm) and 3rd shift (10pm - 6:30am). Flexibility is required based on production and staffing needs, including potential 6-day work weeks and 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm or 6pm-6am).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.75 - $23.25/hr.
