Job Description
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for independently analyzing and determining the quality of products using specialized analytical equipment. This role involves executing various laboratory procedures related to the analysis of bulk and pharmaceutical chemicals, ensuring quality and safety throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Utilize independent judgment to assess product quality through appropriate analytical methods.
- Conduct analysis of samples using laboratory equipment and techniques such as FT-IR, Loss On Drying, Non-volatile Residue, and moisture analysis.
- Operate and maintain GC systems to perform analyses on various sample types.
- Maintain a thorough and organized laboratory notebook.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with laboratory instruments.
- Perform peer review of commercial product laboratory data as necessary.
- Apply critical thinking and an understanding of analytical equipment to safely analyze chemical entities.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
- Experience with FTIR, KF, GC, and other laboratory techniques.
- Familiarity with quality control processes in a laboratory setting.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
- Experience with a variety of analytical laboratory equipment.
- Ability to use specialized analytical equipment and various computer systems.
Work Environment
*MUST be open to swing and grave shifts
The role is situated in a dynamic laboratory environment where a wide variety of chemical materials are used and stored. Employees may be exposed to variable noise levels and are expected to maintain a high awareness of personal and equipment safety. The QC Laboratory operates 24/7/365, requiring flexibility to work all shifts. The position primarily involves a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with a start time between 6am and 8am.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
