Job Description
A Lab Assistant will be working in a high volume production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.
The schedule for this position is:
Tuesday - Saturday 3rd shift 10pm - 6:30AM
Essential Job Duties:
- Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
- Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
- Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
- Sort specimens into their appropriate department or hamilton pipetting.
- Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting platform including capping and uncapping samples labeling aliquot tubes pulling errors and sorting aliquots.
- Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
- Returns specimens to appropriate locations.
- Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks.
- Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Adhere to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of CLIA CAP and other regulatory bodies.
- Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs instrument function checks troubleshooting and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift up to 15lbs. Flexibility to work overtime as needed. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Must pass a standardized color blindness test.
Required Work Experience: Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred. Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills preferred.
Working Conditions: This is a fast-paced production environment that has established turn-around times. Employee will be handling biological specimens with a potential of being exposed to blood borne pathogens.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.85 - $21.85/hr.
