Job Title: Job Captain / Project Architect

Job Description

This fully remote Job Captain / Project Architect role supports the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of complex projects in technology, advanced manufacturing, laboratory, and mission critical market sectors, with a strong focus on data centers and high-tech facilities. You will take a lead role in client engagement, project delivery, consultant coordination, and Revit-based production while collaborating closely with a distributed project team. The position is ideal for a self-starter who takes ownership of their work, communicates clearly, and thrives in a fast-paced, design-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate architectural designs from initial concept through construction completion for technology, advanced manufacturing, laboratory, mission critical, and data center projects.
  • Produce, manage, and maintain comprehensive construction documents using Revit, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all drawings and models.
  • Work directly within active Revit models and contribute immediately to ongoing project production and documentation.
  • Coordinate effectively with engineering consultants and specialty disciplines to integrate architectural and engineering systems into cohesive project solutions.
  • Interface directly with clients, contractors, building officials, and other project stakeholders to communicate design intent, resolve issues, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Participate in client meetings and project presentations, clearly articulating design concepts, technical solutions, and project progress.
  • Perform construction administration activities, including site visits (as required), field observations, and documentation of construction progress and conformance to design intent.
  • Review and process submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and change orders, ensuring timely responses and alignment with project requirements and codes.
  • Ensure project quality, technical accuracy, and compliance with applicable building codes, permitting requirements, and industry standards.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously, managing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute to project planning and scheduling, helping to define milestones, deliverables, and resource needs to support successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with team members in a remote environment, sharing knowledge, coordinating tasks, and supporting overall project success.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced team members where applicable, fostering growth in design, documentation, and professional skills.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of architectural experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit with the ability to work as an expert user and contribute immediately within active Revit models.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, and the full lifecycle of architectural project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting one or more of the following project types: mission critical facilities, data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, technology buildings, or laboratory facilities.
  • Solid knowledge of building codes and permitting requirements and the ability to apply them to design and documentation.
  • Proficiency in coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialty disciplines.
  • Proven construction administration experience, including reviewing submittals, RFIs, and change orders and conducting field observations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated client-facing experience.
  • Self-directed, accountable work style with the ability to operate effectively with limited supervision.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and consistently in a fully remote environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with high-tech facilities, with data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Architecture degree from an accredited university (preferred).
  • Registered Architect (RA) credential preferred.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license or active pursuit of licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale technology or data center developments.
  • Experience working with global technology clients.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience within project teams.
  • Background in architectural design for advanced manufacturing, laboratory, and mission critical environments.

Work Environment

This role operates in a fully remote, work-from-home environment, offering the flexibility to contribute from any suitable location while supporting a smaller, design-focused architecture firm. You will collaborate with a distributed project team using Revit and other digital tools to deliver complex technology and data center projects. Communication occurs primarily through virtual meetings, digital collaboration platforms, and shared project models. The work is fast-paced and project-driven, with multiple concurrent assignments and clear deadlines.
