Job Description
This Intermediate Architect role focuses on high-end residential projects, including renovations of single-family apartments and townhouses in New York City. You will work across all project phases, from initial concept and schematic design through construction administration, while collaborating closely with clients and internal teams. The position offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in luxury residential design and gain comprehensive exposure to the full architectural process within a well-established firm.
Responsibilities
- Manage renovation projects for high-end single-family apartments and townhouses in New York City from concept through construction administration.
- Lead and contribute to design efforts, including concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction administration for high-end residential projects.
- Develop complete and accurate construction document (CD) sets using AutoCAD, ensuring alignment with design intent and building codes.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and documentation to support bidding, permitting, and construction phases.
- Attend client meetings and site visits to understand project requirements, present design concepts, and address design and construction issues.
- Coordinate and communicate regularly with the project manager and principal to align on project goals, schedules, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with interiors and other project stakeholders to ensure cohesive, high-quality residential design solutions.
- Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and assisting with punch lists and site observations.
- Ensure that all project work meets high standards of design quality and reflects the expectations of a high-end residential clientele.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of professional architectural experience, preferably with a focus on high-end residential projects.
- Proven experience working on high-end residential renovations, including single-family apartments and townhouses.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for creating construction documents, construction drawings, and detailed CD sets.
- Hands-on experience with concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
- Demonstrated ability to manage renovation projects from early design through construction administration.
- Client-facing experience with the ability to communicate design ideas clearly and professionally.
- Background in architectural design for high-end residential interiors and renovations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in preparing construction documentation and coordinating project information.

Work Environment
This role is based in an office in New York City, with a hybrid schedule of in-office work from Monday through Thursday and work-from-home on Friday. You will work in a studio environment that uses AutoCAD as a primary production tool and focuses on high-end residential projects, including single-family apartments and townhouses. The firm has been well established for over 30 years and offers exposure to all phases of the architectural process while collaborating with a high-end clientele. The benefits package includes three weeks of paid time off (15 days), five days of sick/personal time, nine holidays, employer-provided healthcare, and employer-provided pension contributions.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.00 - $56.00/hr.
