The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator implements, monitors, and continuously improves environmental, health, and safety programs across the facility. This role ensures full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (including OSHA and EPA) while protecting employees, the environment, and company assets. The EHS Coordinator manages safety processes, delivers training, leads incident investigations, and drives a strong safety culture across all operations in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, update, and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Support leadership in building and maintaining a strong, proactive safety culture across the organization.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct safety orientation training for all new employees.
  • Identify, develop, and deliver additional training programs to raise awareness and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Coordinate and conduct annual refresher training, including lockout/tagout, chemical handling, PPE use, first aid, and CPR.
  • Deliver clear, engaging training sessions that equip employees and supervisors to work safely and comply with regulations.
  • Maintain all required EHS logs and documentation, including OSHA logs, internal injury reports, and audit records.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste regulations, including proper storage, labeling, handling, and disposal.
  • Review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for new materials and supplies to assess potential hazards and required controls.
  • Monitor changes in environmental and safety regulations and update company policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual safety inspections and audits of facilities, processes, and equipment.
  • Perform regular unannounced safety walk-throughs, engaging employees to understand concerns and reinforce safe practices.
  • Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and work with management to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead workplace incident investigations, including response, reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Document incident findings and communicate results to management, ensuring follow-through on recurrence prevention.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and drills, and support first aid and CPR preparedness.
  • Serve as a resource during actual emergencies, providing guidance and support for first aid and safety response.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Health & Safety Committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and leading discussions.
  • Communicate safety issues, trends, and improvement initiatives to management to drive continuous improvement.
  • Recognize and promote employee contributions that improve safety and health performance.
  • Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety-related documentation in collaboration with Quality and Operations.
  • Provide technical writing support for compliance reports, safety programs, and audit responses.
  • Use EHS management systems and Microsoft Office tools to track metrics, document activities, and report on EHS performance.
  • Support regulatory inspections and internal audits by preparing documentation, responding to findings, and following up on action plans.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred; an Associate’s degree with significant EHS experience considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in EHS coordination or safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance reviews.
  • Demonstrated track record of training employees and positively influencing safety culture.
  • Familiarity with chemical handling, hazardous waste management, and industrial hygiene principles.
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with EHS management systems for tracking, reporting, and documentation.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
  • Ability to perform thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Cosmetics industry experience or experience in similar regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as OSHA 30, ASP, CSP, or CHMM are a plus.
  • Experience developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safety-related SOPs.
  • Experience supporting or leading Health & Safety Committee activities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Quality, Operations, and leadership teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to recognize and reinforce positive safety behaviors to support a strong safety culture.
  • Interest in long-term career growth with opportunities for advancement within a large, global manufacturing organization.

Work Environment

  • This is a full-time onsite position supporting two manufacturing sites located in Congers and West Nyack, NY.
  • The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • The role operates within a manufacturing environment that follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and handles chemicals and hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
  • The EHS Coordinator regularly moves throughout production areas, laboratories, and support spaces to conduct inspections, audits, and training.
  • The position uses standard office technology such as computers, Microsoft Office applications, and EHS management systems, as well as facility-specific safety and monitoring equipment.
  • The environment emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, and offers opportunities for advancement within a large, global manufacturing organization.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
