Job Title: Health and Safety Representative

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Representative to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned Safety Manager or an ambitious Safety Coordinator ready to advance their career. The position has become available due to internal promotions and is crucial as we approach our busy season. The successful candidate will ensure that construction crews operate in safe environments, adhering to company and site policies, while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct new employee orientations to prepare them for fieldwork.
• Provide field training and perform site inspections.
• Manage compliance paperwork, training records, documentation, risk assessments, and safety planning.
• Perform hazard analysis and investigations, especially in the event of incidents or near-misses.
• Collaborate with project management and field teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and client-specific requirements.
• Comfortably speak to small and medium groups for orientations and larger groups for annual meetings.
• Build relationships and communicate effectively with employees ranging from 18 to 60 years old.

Essential Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in health and safety management.
• Experience in utility, industrial, or commercial construction.
• Proficiency in safety audits and compliance.
• Ability to lead investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and state regulations.
• Public speaking skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• A degree is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Must pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), drug, and background check.

Work Environment

The role involves 70% fieldwork and 30% office work, primarily in Southeast Detroit. You will start your day at the office, visit 1-3 site locations, and return home from the work sites. A company vehicle is provided for travel to sites. Fieldwork requires steel-toe shoes and jeans, both of which are provided. You will work with crews ranging from 25 to 300 individuals, supporting various sister companies.

This is a Permanent position based out of Belleville, MI.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

2 weeks vacation fully paid benefits 401 k

This is a fully onsite position in Belleville,MI.

This position is anticipated to close on Mar 31, 2026.
