Job Description

The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role involves drawing blood, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontaminating, as well as updating patient information.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and label accurately.
• Follow procedures specific to protocols necessary for specimen integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Essential.

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for state employment as required
• Own car is mandatory to have
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED mandatory
• 2-4 years of experience
• Experience with pediatrics and geriatric, healthcare.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waldorf, MD.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Waldorf,MD.
