Job Description
The Field Technician supports operations and maintenance activities for landfill gas systems by analyzing well data, performing mechanical maintenance on system components, and ensuring safe, efficient environmental performance. This role combines field work, data collection, and equipment troubleshooting to help optimize landfill gas collection and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Support operations and maintenance efforts for landfill gas collection and control systems across multiple landfill sites.
- Perform pump maintenance, including pulling, rebuilding, troubleshooting, and replacing pumps and related components.
- Conduct landfill gas tuning and reading, adjusting wells and system settings to optimize gas collection and control.
- Carry out surface emissions monitoring (SEMs) and probe readings to assess gas migration and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Perform field sampling and environmental testing as needed to support environmental monitoring programs.
- Use company equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly while traveling between landfill sites.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical experience with pump maintenance, including pulling, rebuilding, troubleshooting, and replacing pumps.
- Hands-on experience in environmental field work, including environmental testing and field sampling.
- Proficiency in data entry and data collection for field activities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between landfill sites within the assigned region.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background in a mechanical environment or field work or similar.
- 40 HR HAZWOPER is a plus. If you don't have it we will provide the training to get certified.
Work Environment
This role is field-based with a home site at a landfill facility in the Fort Wayne, IN area, supporting approximately four surrounding landfills within about a 2.5-hour radius. The technician works primarily outdoors in a landfill environment, often in varying weather and terrain conditions. The position involves regular travel between sites using company vehicles and the use of company equipment for data collection, monitoring, and maintenance activities. The organization offers an employee-owned structure with an ESOP program, allowing employees to share in the company’s growth. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
