Field Service Technician

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support the installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of industrial automation equipment at customer sites across the United States. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting experience who enjoys travel and solving complex technical challenges in the field.

The position focuses on three core functions:

• Startup and commissioning of new systems
• Emergency troubleshooting and repair support
• Preventive and scheduled maintenance services

This role requires approximately 80% travel, with technicians typically traveling Monday through Thursday and completing administrative or office-related work on Fridays.

Responsibilities

• Commission, start up, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial equipment at customer facilities.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic installations according to established specifications and safety standards.
• Execute system calibrations, I/O checkouts, functional testing, and system validation activities.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, PLC, and controls-related issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and identify potential equipment failures before they occur.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Document service activities, repairs, and recommendations accurately and efficiently.
• Provide professional customer support and technical guidance while onsite.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electromechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of field service, maintenance, or industrial troubleshooting experience.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting skills.
• Experience commissioning industrial equipment and automated systems.
• Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and industrial control systems.
• Ability to perform I/O verification, system checkout, and startup activities.
• Proficiency reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with industrial wiring and electrical installation.

Travel & Work Environment

• Approximately 80% travel throughout the United States
• Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday at customer sites, returning home Thursday evening
• Friday reserved for reporting, planning, and administrative tasks
• Work may be performed in manufacturing facilities, industrial plants, and outdoor environments
• Some lifting, climbing, and extended standing may be required

The pay range for this position is $64000.00 - $92000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
