Environmental Monitoring Technician

Job Description

Perform routine environmental monitoring of aseptic processing and controlled area cleanroom environments used for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Conduct quality control or quality assurance activities in compliance with applicable SOPs and cGMPs. Ensure the use of proper aseptic technique during testing of controlled environments and utility systems, including following aseptic gowning protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor lab equipment and techniques such as SAS, SMA, Met One particle counter, viable airborne monitoring (active and passive), total airborne particulate sampling, viable surface monitoring, personnel monitoring, and membrane filtration of water samples.
• Perform testing on Water for Injection (WFI) and gas sampling.
• Utilize laminar flow hood for plate reading and testing procedures.
• Document all work according to cGMPs.
• Spend approximately 70% of time on the manufacturing floor taking samples in specific production suites, with the remaining 30% focused on documentation and basic lab work to incubate samples for further microbiological testing.

• Proficiency in biology and aseptic techniques.
• Exposure to cGMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience in lab or regulated environments is strongly preferred.
• Good computer skills, including proficiency with personal computers and data entry programs.
• Understanding of microbiology and environmental monitoring in clean room settings.

The work environment includes clean room manufacturing environments, radioactive manufacturing environments, controlled environments, laboratories, and office areas. The team consists of 5 current Environmental Monitoring Technicians, with plans to expand to 8 positions next year. You will report to a Supervisor and regularly interact with manufacturing, QA, QC, and Microbiology teams. The position involves a combination of 1st and 2nd shifts on a 5-week rotating schedule. The training will primarily occur Monday through Friday on a set day shift schedule.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
