Job Description
The Environmental Engineer plays a key role in supporting a broad range of environmental projects, including site assessments, remediation efforts, regulatory compliance, and redevelopment initiatives. This position offers a balanced mix of fieldwork and office-based responsibilities, encompassing environmental sampling, data evaluation, and detailed technical report preparation. The individual will conduct soil, groundwater, air, and soil gas sampling, perform environmental compliance inspections, and assist with permitting efforts and regulatory submittals to ensure alignment with applicable standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct soil, groundwater, air, and soil gas sampling.
- Perform environmental compliance inspections.
- Assist with permitting efforts and regulatory submittals.
- Contribute to air quality evaluations, emissions analysis, and environmental control assessments.
- Design and implement vapor mitigation and remediation systems.
- Oversee system installation and ensure ongoing operation and maintenance.
- Collaborate with project managers and coordinate with subcontractors.
- Make sound, real-time field decisions while maintaining data integrity.
- Deliver accurate, defensible, and high-quality results for clients.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant environmental or engineering experience.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.
- Experience with environmental field sampling and compliance assessments.
- Knowledge of state regulations such as EGLE.
- Strong technical writing and data analysis skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data platforms such as GIS and LogPlot.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- EIT preferred, PE or progress toward PE is a plus.
- Familiarity with air quality, vapor mitigation, or remediation systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
This role involves a mix of fieldwork and office-based duties. Fieldwork may include soil, groundwater, stormwater, and soil gas sampling, inspections of construction sites, and coordination of subcontractors at various locations. Working over 40 hours, including weekends, may qualify for additional compensation. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brighton, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.67/hr.
