Job Description
The Sales Engineer serves as the primary technical resource for the sales team, managing the application evaluation stage of the sales process. This role involves reviewing and interpreting customer technical requirements and specifications, with a strong focus on quarter-turn valve and actuation products. The main responsibilities include preparing accurate quotations and ensuring clear communication between the customer and internal departments. The specialist is responsible for identifying and providing reliable solutions for applications, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with sales and technical inquiries, building rapport and strong customer relationships.
- Act as the primary technical resource and product advocate for both the sales team and customers.
- Review and interpret customer technical requirements and project specifications.
- Perform design reviews and calculations using engineering tools and programs.
- Conduct cost vs. performance analysis to offer customers the best value for their budget.
- Maintain and continually enhance knowledge of core products, operating principles, best use practices, and basic troubleshooting.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and competitors’ products.
- Go above and beyond to find solutions to customers’ problems.
Essential Skills
- Engineering, sales, and mechanical expertise.
- Proficient in application engineering and customer service sales.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic electrical knowledge.
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 1-2 years of engineering or technical sales experience preferred.
- Strong math and reading skills, including basic statistics.
- Proficient computer competency, including Excel.
- Understanding of fundamental engineering principles.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and determine root causes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in performing design reviews and calculations.
- Capability to conduct cost vs. performance analysis.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and competitor products.
Work Environment
The work environment is an office setting, operating five days a week from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The dress code is business casual. The environment is fast-paced, and candidates must be willing to learn quickly. There is an opportunity to work with a growing organization expanding its market in the actuator industry. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wentzville, Missouri.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
