This role focuses on building and testing complex mechanical and electrical systems in a cleanroom environment within the semiconductor industry. You support process improvements, engineering tests, lean initiatives, and quality enhancements while serving as a technical resource for the team and contributing to new product introduction and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Build and test complex mechanical and electrical systems in a cleanroom environment, following established specifications and procedures.
  • Produce products in accordance with defined quality standards and technical documentation, ensuring consistency and reliability.
  • Observe, document, and report recurring or ongoing issues in product construction or operation, and support efforts to resolve these problems.
  • Contribute actively to product and process improvements by providing feedback, suggestions, and technical insight.
  • Manufacture and deliver high-level, complex systems according to established procedures and production plans.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems that arise during assembly, testing, or operation of systems.
  • Set a positive example for other team members by demonstrating best practices, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
  • Oversee the full process from assembly through final test, acting as a reference point for problem solving within your area of expertise.
  • Actively participate in pilot production for new products and support the transition from pilot to volume production.
  • Develop and improve technical product documentation (TPD), processes, records, and related production documentation.
  • Evaluate the impact of new or revised procedures on the production process before implementation and provide feedback and recommendations.
  • Generate constructive ideas for product and process improvements based on hands-on experience and test results.
  • Acquire and maintain sufficient knowledge of new and existing products, processes, modifications, sub-modules, and complete systems.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of how individual modules interact with the overall system and other subsystems.
  • Share relevant expertise and best practices with colleagues to support knowledge transfer and team development.
  • Support strong teamwork by collaborating on solutions, participating in departmental tasks, and implementing agreed improvements.
  • Coordinate daily activities in line with the production plan and monitor progress against practical realities on the floor.
  • Closely control and manage the use of tools, materials, and equipment to ensure availability, proper use, and care.
  • Perform mechanical assembly and testing operations using hand tools, test equipment, and appropriate documentation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to guide assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Conduct inspection and testing of systems and subassemblies, document results, and perform troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
  • Support lean manufacturing, kaizen activities, and other process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.

Essential Skills

  • Experience building and testing mechanical and electrical systems, preferably in a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly and testing using appropriate tools and procedures.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong inclination toward working with mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience using hand tools and test equipment for assembly, inspection, testing, and repair.
  • Ability to perform testing and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Comfort working in a cleanroom environment and following strict procedures and cleanliness standards.
  • Strong computer skills sufficient to work with documentation, records, and test or production-related software tools.
  • Ability to inspect, identify, and document issues in assemblies and systems and support corrective actions.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks in line with a production plan and to coordinate activities effectively.
  • Strong teamwork skills, including the ability to collaborate, share knowledge, and support departmental tasks.
  • Education such as a diploma, certification, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing/technical experience.
  • Manufacturing internship or co-op experience in a relevant technical or production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Lean manufacturing training, such as Introduction to Lean, 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), or similar coursework, is preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing practices, kaizen, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Experience in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environments is beneficial.
  • Experience working with prototypes and supporting pilot production is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with testing and troubleshooting electronics and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to serve as a technical reference for others and to mentor or guide colleagues informally.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to propose constructive ideas for product and process improvements.
  • Comfort working in a structured, procedure-driven environment with detailed technical documentation.
  • Motivation to grow into more advanced engineering or technical roles over time.

Work Environment

This position operates in a cleanroom environment within the semiconductor industry, requiring adherence to strict cleanliness, safety, and procedural standards. The role follows a compressed workweek (CWW) schedule with both day and night shifts available. CWW Day shifts (D1 and D2) run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and CWW Night shifts (N1 and N2) run from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. D1 and N1 follow a rotation where Week 1 covers Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and Week 2 covers Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday. D2 and N2 follow a rotation where Week 1 covers Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and Week 2 covers Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, including every other Wednesday. The first two weeks of employment are dedicated to training and new hire orientation on a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., after which you transition to the CWW schedule. The environment uses a variety of mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment, hand tools, and computer-based systems to support assembly, testing, inspection, and documentation. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
