Engineering Support Specialist

The Engineering Support Specialist controls and distributes engineering specifications and supports the maintenance of the Bill of Materials (BOM) database through engineering changes and periodic audits. This role maintains product data within Oracle, Product Data Hub (PDH), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, while providing day-to-day support to the Engineering and R&D teams.

Responsibilities

• Control, maintain, and distribute engineering specifications in an organized and timely manner.
• Assist in maintaining the Bill of Materials (BOM) database, including processing engineering changes and performing periodic audits to ensure data accuracy.
• Support the maintenance and accuracy of product data in Oracle, Product Data Hub (PDH), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Collaborate closely with R&D and engineering teams to ensure product data and documentation remain current and consistent across systems.
• Maintain both electronic and paper files, ensuring proper organization, version control, and accessibility for internal stakeholders.
• Disseminate information and documentation to internal and external clients in a clear, accurate, and timely manner.
• Compose professional business correspondence for internal and external distribution, including updates related to engineering changes and product data.
• Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents to support accurate data entry and document control.
• Work effectively with all levels of internal management, staff, and external customers to resolve issues related to engineering data, BOMs, and documentation.
• Demonstrate strong ethics, integrity, accountability, and dependability in handling sensitive engineering and product information.
• Manage time and priorities effectively to meet deadlines associated with engineering changes, audits, and data updates.
• Identify and help resolve problems related to product data, BOM structures, and documentation inconsistencies.

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in file management, including maintaining electronic and paper files.
• Experience in disseminating information for internal and external clients.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment.
• History of regular and consistent attendance at work.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (subject to assessment).
• Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and Bill of Materials (BOM) structuring.
• Ability to compose clear and professional business correspondence for internal and external audiences.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical documents.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as external customers.
• Demonstrated ethics and integrity in handling engineering and product information.

• Background in environments that require strict document control and version management.

This role operates within an Engineering R&D department, working closely with engineers, R&D professionals, and cross-functional teams. The position involves regular use of ERP systems such as Oracle, as well as Product Data Hub (PDH) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools. The environment emphasizes collaboration, accuracy in technical data, and adherence to structured processes for engineering changes and documentation control. The work setting is professional and office-based, with a focus on teamwork, consistent communication, and support of ongoing research and development activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Montgomery, AL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
