Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Engineering Supervisor to lead and oversee a talented team in a dynamic work environment. This role involves supervising staff, providing project direction, and fostering a culture of growth and development. The successful candidate will ensure that team objectives are met effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the work of staff, exercising technical and administrative oversight.
- Providing project direction and planning to best utilize your team.
- Providing instruction for performance improvement and development to your team members.
- Developing training plans and facilitating the growth of your team.
- Evaluating performance and completing performance reviews.
- Recommending discipline, as necessary, to maintain a high standard of work.
- Monitoring attendance, approving timesheets, and scheduling PTO to ensure adequate staffing.
- Establishing priorities, tracking project schedules, and developing work processes and procedures to meet goals.
- Creating and promoting an equitable workplace that demonstrates an environment respectful of every teammate.
- Estimating staffing and resource needs to effectively execute projects.
- Working directly with Sales and Manufacturing to determine priorities and develop production schedules.
- Independently performing the full range of engineering work assignments.
- Following customer specifications to complete product designs.
- Working with Mechanical Designers to select components, develop drawings and maintain as-built revisions.
- Advising Mechanical Designers in the creation and modification of 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Selecting proper components and generating BOMs.
- Providing needed calculations for tanks and/or pressure piping components.
- Working with vendors to introduce new and cost-effective products into systems.
- Participating in the inspections of products in various stages of the production process.
- Helping maintain the ASME Quality Control System.
- Participating in Continuous Improvement Initiatives to develop better procedures and increase efficiency.
- Assisting Project Management with customer interface and acting as a SME for Mechanical Design queries.
- Creating and updating internal documents for Engineering Procedures and Training.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience using software for 3D modeling.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with capital equipment is preferred.
- A working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Codes, boilers, heat transfer equipment, or auxiliary boiler room equipment is preferred.
- Ability to work independently after proper training and be a self-starter.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with PDM or PLM software is preferred.
- Experience with Codeware Compress is preferred.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and clearly.
- Willingness to work in a collaborative environment and be a team player.
Work Environment
This position requires tasks primarily performed in an office setting, involving desk work and computer tasks. The role involves low to moderate exposure to noise, heat, and cold environments. Physical requirements include walking, bending, hand dexterity, speaking, seeing, and occasionally lifting/moving up to 15 pounds. While on the production floor, steel toe shoes, earplugs, and safety glasses are always required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morristown, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $175000.00/hr.
