Electrical Engineer - Product Compliance and Safety

Job Description

Join a dynamic team responsible for ensuring electrified products meet industry safety standards. As an Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate with design and development teams to ensure battery, charger, and powertrain systems comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards. You will play a crucial role in evaluating products, conducting risk assessments, supporting compliance activities, and collaborating with global engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Review battery, charger, and powertrain products to ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, standards evaluations, and compliance reviews using established engineering methodologies.
• Partner with design and development teams to understand product requirements and identify appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
• Support the creation of technical documentation and compliance reports that demonstrate adherence to applicable standards.
• Lead and facilitate product review meetings, ensuring clear actions, ownership, and follow-up.
• Track compliance-related activities, monitor progress, and provide regular updates to project leads and stakeholders.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to provide guidance on product safety and regulatory compliance matters.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams and compliance leads supporting a wide range of electrified products.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including facilitating technical discussions, driving agreement on actions, leading reviews, and compiling compliance evidence.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute across several projects while effectively organizing own workload.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with industrial electrical products, battery electric vehicles, motors, inverters, or switchgear.
• Ability to review technical reports, assess test results, and support root-cause analysis of electrical system issues.
• Experience with DFMEA, risk assessments, Bowtie Analysis, or industrial product safety standards.
• Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulatory requirements for electrified products.
• Experience with functional safety of control systems.
• Product certification and compliance documentation experience.
• Data analysis and reporting experience using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Power Automate.

Work Environment

The role is part of a team of approximately 10 engineers focused on product compliance and safety. The position is primarily office-based but includes opportunities to observe product testing and assembly activities. Time spent in test environments is expected to be less than 20%, and safety shoes will be required when supporting testing activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Peoria, IL.

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Peoria,IL.
