CDL Driver (Commercial Driver’s License) Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused CDL Driver to join our team. The CDL Driver is responsible for transporting goods and materials over short or long distances while ensuring timely deliveries and compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial vehicles (tractor-trailers, box trucks, or other heavy-duty vehicles)
• Transport goods to designated locations in a timely manner
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, driving time, and deliveries (ELD compliance)
• Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safety policies
• Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securement
• Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse staff
• Report any vehicle issues, accidents, or delays immediately
• Ensure proper documentation of shipments (BOLs, delivery receipts)

Qualifications

• Valid CDL (Class A or Class B) license
• Clean driving record with no major violations
• Minimum [X] years of commercial driving experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards
• Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening and background check
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Good communication and customer service skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods
• Capable of lifting up to [50–75 lbs] as needed
• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions

Work Environment & Schedule

• Local, regional, or over-the-road (OTR) routes depending on assignment
• May include nights, weekends, and holidays
• Home time varies based on route type

This is a Permanent position based out of Newtown, CT.

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $133000.00/yr.
